The University Students’ Council is pleased to announce nearly $100, 000 in grants have been awarded to 105 different clubs, faculties and initiatives on campus over the course of the 2012-2013 academic year.

The grant system has been an USC function for a number of years, with grants awarded on a bi-weekly basis between September and March. However, this coming year, applications will be available starting in August. A Grants Committee comprised of 6 students at large chooses which student initiatives receive grant funds. Some examples of grants distributed this year include the CAISA Fashion Show, Tedx WesternU and the The Western Engineering Toboggan Team.

“As an organization, the USC is glad to support grass roots ideas brought to us by students, and help make their passions a reality,” stated USC Vice President Finance, Tony Ayala.

USC President, Adam Fearnall, explained that “students are the best at knowing what the type of programs and initiatives they want, and we are proud to be able to provide them with the financial resources to do so.”
